The two fascinating things about this volume are the stories themselves and the illustrations; the former because they are authentic and the latter because they are beautiful but quite distinctively in the tradition of nineteenth century European illustration - for European books. It is clear to me that they have been done by a person who has never been to India or has not gone beyond European style.
Only 160 of this book were printed, obviously prepared with a good deal of love and no profit motive. Each one was manually prepared. There must be a story behind its production. I would love to know what it was.
